It is located at 1300 km of Bs. As. It is famous for their beautiful beaches and by the nautical sports that are practiced, especially diving. Among the most far away beaches they are emphasized, to the south, “Beach Kaiser”, “Beach Paraná” and “Cerro Avanzado” with landscapes of protective wall coverings (cliffs) and “Restinga”, and, at the north, in “El Doradillo” or “La Cantera”, where you can see whales.
From here several excursions can be done. The best one is the visit to the Peninsula Valdez. At only 110 km. from Puerto Madryn, “Puerto Piramide”, is a little town at the peninsula that is the starting point for the boats that will take you to see the whales. Besides, along all the coast of the peninsula there are postings of marine elephants: in “Punta Norte”, “Caleta Valdez” and “Punta Delgada”. These mammals arrive in August and they remain almost to the end of the summer. Besides their fauna these places offer a coastal landscape unforgettable.
Only 109 km to the south of Puerto Madryn and traveling for a non paved road in the majority of the journey, is “Punta Tombo”, the greater continental magallanic penguins reserve. If we return for the same road, we return to the route, where can opt for going toward the coast and to visit Rawson, with its Union Beach spa. You can also travel toward the lower valley of river Chubut, road to the mountain range, passing for Trelew. And there’s also Gaiman, center of the Welsh culture where you can enjoy the typical Welsh cake in some of the tea houses. Some km more toward the west is the Dike F. Ameghino, where some nautical sports can be practiced.
