Located at the coasts of the Lake Traful, this village was born around 1937 for the purpose of offering tourist infrastructure. Due to that the properties are inside a National Park, there is strict dispositions that the residents should comply to the effects to protect the environment and to preserve the wild aspect of the zone. That has been achieved. In Traful you can breathe nature.
Traful is a beautiful and quiet village scarcely populated (slightly more than 300 permanent inhabitants) with houses in stone and wood scattered by the slope, some of which they are very attractive. Near the spring is the sector of services with park rangers, police, first aids room, gas station, mail and grocery stores.
Besides trekking, camping and horseback riding can be carried out. There are very good organized campings and hostels of different levels. Also you can eat in very nice restaurants or enjoy a rich afternoon snack in one of the two tea houses. For the ones that prefer to live in the nature, the zone offers marvelous spaces for alone, free camping. You only need to travel through the route of access some kilometers to identify the one you like.
Lago Traful
Of 70 square kilometers of surface, this lake is located on a valley of glacial origin that runs from East to West. It is a lake extended whose coasts present large variations. In some zones, the coasts are large cliffs and a few kilometers away beautiful beaches are found where to enjoy the fresh water of the lake or to camp. The lake all is surrounded by imposing peaks that are usually snowed and that are covered with deep forests.
The coasts present innumerable places for fishing with the modality of fly-casting. Also it is ideal to fish from boats.
