City founded by third and last time April 19, 1593, in its present place, by Francisco de Argañaraz y Murguía. The city known as "The Silver little Cup" is found surrounded by mountains in the triangle that form the “altos herbosos de la Nieva” and the rivers Xibi-Xibi and “Grande”.
From this place begins to be formed the “Quebrada of Humahuaca”, natural road of ascent to “la Puna”, with their lands of changing colors that go from the blue to the red.
