Information about El Chalten

The Chaltén is a small town that only started developing a few years ago. It is located inside the north extreme of the Glaciares National Park and its population grows in summer when the trekkers and climbers arrive to challenge the mountains. The Mount Fitz Roy, together with the Torre Hill and the Poincenot hill and other towers, is the great attraction of the zone.
There are various trekking paths that can be carried out from there, like the one that arrives at Tower lake, the White River and lake of the Three. Therefore we recommend to spend at least a night in one of the two hostels that belong to Hostelling International. The Patagonia Hostel and the Rancho Grande Hostel both offer lodging and excursions.
